4 in 3!

Sunday to Tuesday weren’t a bad few days for the yard…4 winners in 3 days! Five Helmets and Jamie kicked things off at Beverley on Sunday. There was a hold your breath moment when it looked like they weren’t going to get the gap but it opened up in the end and they got there in time.

Next up was Traditional Dancer and Ross at Cartmel’s Bank Holiday Monday meeting. They contested the 3m 2f Handicap Chase (with a valuable pot to win) and lead from pillar to post. It’s no secret that Mr Dalgleish’ “Paddy” is a quirky character who doesn’t always like to be told what to do. With just a field of 4, Ross made the decision to bounce out, make all and let Paddy dictate…resulting in a 12 length lead that in the end, was the winning margin.

Then Ripon on Tuesday was the icing on the cake. Knightley Spirit and Clearance saw off “most” of their rivals to win both their races. Knightley Spirit “unofficially” crossed the line in 2nd buy a nose but “officially” won the race after a Stewards Enquiry proved there was interference in the closing stages, well done Dave Allan. This is not always the best way to win a race but a win’s a win and for IJR, it meant we had a double on the day thanks to Clearance and Graham Lee for Kildonan Gold Racing 2 in the 2 miler at 5.05.

This week has brought milestones for the staff too: Ben has been with Five Helmets for all 3 of his wins. Ericka lead up her first winner and her first double, Leighann saddled her first double and Claire attended her first jumps meeting and did it in style by leading Paddy into the winners enclosure! Well done Team!
