There’s a dew on the grass gallop this morning

It’s a fresh start but it’s to be a nice day. Temps might reach double figures.

Andrew Midge Mullen is in to ride out.  He’s going to sit on a couple of early season 2yo’s.  Midge coming in signals the start of the turf season proper. He will come in 1 or 2 mornings a week throughout the summer going forward.

I love this time of year.  The National Hunt horses are building up to big targets at the likes of Aintree, Ayr and Perth.  Meanwhile, the flat horses are about to embark on a new season.  Plenty going on.

I was making entries with a very loyal jumps Owner yesterday (who has been in the game a long time).  We were very disappointed to see the prize money on offer at Kelso on 11th April.  £2700 to the winner of a Class 5 Handicap Chase.  I know this is a hot topic and times are hard for the whole economy but what makes this more insulting is for Kelso to offer this on the back of their big Bet365 Morebattle Hurdle Day???

The sun is shining bright now and first lot have pulled out so I’m off to see what today has to offer.
