IJR are celebrating a fantastic weekend after Jimmy & Scott Fyffe’s 2yo Filly, Orlaith won the Byerley Stud Stakes (Listed Race) at Newbury on Friday. Capably ridden by Paul Mulrennan, she relished the soft conditions and bravely came between the leaders to win by 3/4 length. A special day for Jimmy and Scott as this was their first Listed Winner on the flat (and IJR’s)! Also a special day for Ellen who was with Orlaith at Newbury – she rides/cares for her every day.
Another notable result over the weekend was Camile Macdonald’s Nubough down at Newmarket on Saturday with Leigh-ann. He made much of the running under Sean Davis and was only headed a furlong out over the 7f trip. He holds an entry back at Newmarket on Saturday 24th.
On Saturday night we had two runners at Market Rasen. Lindsay and Kayleigh made the trip down with Tokaramore and Wild Sam. Tokaramore ran well under Ross Chapman finishing 5th, the removal of some of the fences because of low sun didn’t help. However, it was a completely different story for Wild Sam who took advantage of there only being 6 hurdles left in and more importantly, no elusive LAST hurdle! He looked beat turning in but the blinkers did their job and he came with a strong run between the leading pair under Conor O’farrell inside the final 100 yards to win nicely. That shut the non-complimentary Racing TV commentators up!
Entries this week: Wednesday Carlise, Saturday Cartmel, Newmarket & Redcar, Sunday Beverley.
