Happy birthday to Her Majesty The Queen. A quieter occasion than normal for her but another remarkable milestone at 95 years young!
I’m at Newcastle this morning with 4 gallopers. We left at 5am. We have on board, Sleight (an unraced 3yo), Rose Bandit (an exciting new recruit), Havana Party (in prep for his seasonal debut for Lets Be Lucky Racing) and Scott & Jimmy Fyffe’s Kraken Power (one of 2020 superstars who is entered up at Ascot). Shannon and Andrew Mullen will work them in pairs.
We have one runner later on today at Perth. So Satisfied is giving my Amateur Jockey, Ailsa McClung her second ride for me (pictured stretching his legs on the beach in January). This will probably be Rocky’s last run as he is creeping nearer retirement. We’re hoping for his Co-Owners Eddie, David and Ian that it’s a winning one. Ideally I’d have preferred he was over fences but options were limited. The trip and ground suit and he has form over hurdles. Ailsa has had her instructions but I’ll be at Perth to keep her right!
Rob is in charge back at the yard this morning. It’s work morning. We’re sticking to the all-weather today until we get some juice on the grass. Conor is in.
In the office we’re firming up plans for a trip to France. I’ve identified a suitable race for Flowery. The ground has gone for him in the UK but France is a good option. All being well he runs on the 29th April.
