Good Morning. A blog post written with great sadness to let the wider racing community know that during the night, our team member, John passed away in his sleep. Understandably this has come as a massive shock to us all at Hetlandhill so please bear with us đź’”
Formerly an integral part of the Kevin Ryan Team, John very quickly found his feet at IJR at home in his native Dumfries & Galloway. He lived and breathed racing and his horses. He spoke fondly of the early days at Mary Reveley’s and of the people he met and the connections he made during his many years dedicated to horse racing. As a Team we’d joke at the races “is there anyone here John doesn’t know?” He’d pass no one at the racecourse without at least a “how’s it goin bud?” or to congratulate another Trainer on a win. He was first here in the morning and would often be asked to leave if I couldn’t find anymore jobs for him. He leaves a big hole here at IJR and to those involved in racing further afield, particularly Yorkshire. As we would say “a weel kent face.” RIP.
