The National Hunt horses appear to be flying at the moment! Something Brewing relished the conditions and loved the track at Bangor On Dee (Friday) and bolted up in the Yorton Goffs National Hunt Sale 2m Handicap Hurdle. After the razzmatazz of a 6.30am blow out on the A75, a police road closure and a change from one vehicle to another, Ross had “Snoopy” in a lovely position and gave him a positive ride as he’s a quirky little character (who thoroughly enjoyed earlier tyre incident), that often needs his mind made up for him. He won in the end with ears pricked! Owner Michael Wares unfortunately couldn’t attend but co-owner Cath Brown, accompanied by husband Nigel, was over the moon to see her boy cross the line in front! Bangor were very hospitable and the weather just topped the day! Traditional Dancer also ran a solid race in a competitive field over fences to finish 5th. He pulled a front shoe off early on which didn’t help his case.
Meanwhile at Musselburgh, the pick of the four runners was undoubtedly Allan McLuckies’ Smugglers Creek in the Bernard Hunter Mobile Cranes 7f Handicap. At a massive price of 50-1, Paul Mulrennan just couldn’t quite get his head in front but 2nd by a neck was still very exciting!
