A wet but winning day at Perth
It was a wet but winning day at Perth yesterday. The heavens opened but that didn’t deter River Icon who splashed her way through the mud under a confident ride from Billy Garritty. Typically Owners, Maurice Friel and Trevor Reid weren’t able to make it this time but screamed her home from in front of the TV and stayed a lot drier than any of the team at the course (Hannah Crawford – pictured, Kayleigh Pretswell and Leigh-ann Thomson).
The other runners Tokaramore & Camile in the same race both ran well. It wouldn’t be Tokaramore’s preferred ground. On that note, Angel’s Envy was a non-runner in the next race and will wait for drier conditions.
Ellen took Orlaith down to Goodwood for the 2yo Fillies Conditions Stakes. She ran a blinder under Paul Mulrennan for Owners Scott & Jimmy Fyffe. She was staying on in the closing stages finishing 4th beaten 2 lengths. All being well, she will be aimed at The western Meeting at Ayr.
