We try our best to do whatever works best for each horse at IJR. In this case, the horse pictured suffers from stiff joints and is showing signs of early arthritis. We never gallop him but canter him steadily 2 or 3 times a week on the all-weather. This week we took him swimming. It’s great for this type of horse. We will now work this into his training programme twice a week.
Declarations were made this morning for Newcastle on Friday evening. Golden Sandbanks will have his first run in the 2yo Novice for Jimmy Fyffe and Douglas Pryde and Lightning Charlie will have his first run for the yard in my own colours. Both ridden by Jamie Gormley.
All being well we will also be at Catterick over hurdles with Karasheni on Friday too.
