Hello and Happy New Year! We had a busy day yesterday as myself and 6 other members of staff headed across the country for racing. Kayleigh headed to Cheltenham on New Year’s Eve ahead of yesterday’s fixture, Lindsay headed herself to Catterick and myself, Ellen, Sam, Dom and Anita went to Musselburgh. We had a very mixed bag of results, but some good runs and lots of 3rds from horses.
Musselburgh: MASTER OLIVER was our first runner and had his first go over hurdles, under Craig Nichol. He will come on from that run. Next up was LASTOFTHECOSMICS who ran well under Brian Hughes for 3rd place for The Cosmic Cases. Delighted to see him back on the track! In the 1.35pm we had two runners, HALF SHOT, ridden by Craig Nichol, owned by The Farming Army, who too finished in 3rd and GOLD DES BOIS, ridden by Danny McMenamin, owned by Mr Raymond Anderson Green who finished 6th. Both boys ran great races. Our last couple of Musselburgh runners of the day were VOIX DU REVE who finished 8th in the 2.45pm for D&D Armstrong and Mr Lee Westwood and EXCELCIUS who finished 6th in the 3.20pm for Mr Gerry McGladdery.

Catterick: SWALLOWS SONG was our first Catterick runner and had his first attempt over hurdles. He ran a very gamely race to finish a fantastic 3rd under Conor O’Farrell, for owner Mrs E. Fallon. BASHFUL also ran a very respectable race to finish 3rd under Conor O’Farrell, in the 3.35pm for owners, Lycett Racing. A good day!

Cheltenham: PERIBONKA RIVER was in the 3.40pm National Hunt Flat Race, ridden by Brendan Powell. Unfortunately it wasn’t her day, however very much looking forward to this filly’s future! A lovely mare owned by Mr Seymore Kurdi. She is pictured below taking in the views of the track first thing yesterday morning with Kayleigh during a pick of grass.
