We had a fantastic day at Hamilton yesterday. TRICORN won the 3.10pm under Andrew Mullen making it two on the bounce for us. Max got to lead up his pride and joy. You can see by his face this meant a lot. He puts in all the hard work at home with this tricky character. I was delighted to train another winner in Lady O’Reilley’s colours.
Debutant ABBIE POWER ran a cracker for Scott Fyffe, a Tattersalls Breeze Up purchase who I’ve only had 3 weeks. She was the outsider in the 5f 2yo contest but ran gamely behind a very useful Cotai Glory gelding to finish 2nd. She was a bit green at the 2 pole when on her own but knuckled down well to the task.
I might drop KRAKEN POWER back to 5f. He’s a lovely horse but was too keen early on over the 6f and didn’t get home, especially in soft ground. STAGE POWER wants a sounder surface under his feet too but didn’t disappoint and ROSE BANDIT saw a bit too much daylight in the Apprentice Handicap under Shannon Watts. Shannon gave her a nice ride and did nothing wrong. A bit stronger in a finish and she’ll be a very useful claimer this summer.
We are at Carlisle this evening with JOYOUS DAYS for Duchess Evelyn and WIGANESE for Stephen Brown & Co.
It’s pea soup fog at the minute but things are to clear up and temperatures are to reach 15/16 tomorrow. That will be a relief for the horses out at grass!
