Good Morning and Happy Wednesday! We’ve had a busy week so far, with me down at Newmarket Sales, runners at Ripon, Ayr and Pontefract, the rest of the horses needing ridden, and Jenny at Pony Club Camp…
We were delighted on Monday to have various runners with great results. We managed to get a win on the board for the delighted owner & breeder, Mr Gordon Thom from his beautiful filly LOVETTE at Ripon under a fantastic ride from Mohammed Tabti. Huge congratulations to him and his connections!
At Ayr, JKR COBBLER ran a blinder for his first run since changing into Mrs Francesca Mitchell’s colours, finishing a fantastic 2nd under Archie Young. STOIC POET ran on well for 3rd in the first for Dave Stone & James Scott, and finally both JUMP THE GUN and SUPERIOR COUNCIL finished well in a tight finish in the 4.05pm. We were delighted to offer the hard working Greg Fairley his first ride in the saddle for 14 years. Firstly thank you to Graham Gibson for giving him the opportunity to get legged onto SUPERIOR COUNCIL. We appreciate that while everyone is entitled to, and will have differing opinions, however our thoughts are that, Greg has served his ban. If you are jailed for an offence, you serve your time and start a fresh. No one is perfect! We learn from our mistakes. To have the guts and enthusiasm to come back at nearly 40 years of age and jump through the hoops that the BHA have put in Greg’s path, takes a lot of grit and determination. Since his ban, Greg’s enthusiasm for racing and loyalty to riding out at IJR has never wavered. Iain feels he deserves a chance. Understandably, restrictions on his licence mean Greg (unnecessarily in my opinion) is being closely watched by the BHA. I don’t doubt his willingness to contribute winners to the yard.
Today sees us with one runner at Catterick and tomorrow we have 3 runners at Carlisle. Wishing all of our owners and connections the very best of luck:
