And they’re off!

We jumped 6 colts and 3 fillies out the stalls on turf yesterday for the first time. I was delighted with them all. Really professional.  Pictured on the first lot of colts (L to R) are Max on a Markaz, Jamie on a Mukhadram and Andrew Mullen on a Mastercraftsman.

Conor is in this morning so we’re working a few round the grass and schooling the Ayr horses.

Two runners today: Equidae at Catterick and Flood Defence for Let’s Be Lucky Racing at Newcastle. Flood is in the amateur rider handicap and I’ve given Ailsa McClung her first ride for me since starting at IJR a month ago.

It’s been another cold start here with a light ground frost. The ground is drying rapidly. I wouldn’t want it much quicker for the NH horses. It’s great for turn out though! Makes the job easier for the girls on the ground…less mud!

We are turning out a quarter of the yard daily at the moment!”
