No doubt everyone is beaming following a glorious Sunday in the sun? It looks like we’re in for more today and so on! The ground will be on the quick side again but it is what it is and the same for everyone. Horses that have a preference for it will shine, and those that don’t will shine when the rain comes. It’s swings and roundabouts!
We started the weekend down at Great Yarmouth with Messers Hay, Steele & Froud’s FRENCH RED (pictured). He proved his 2nd at Carlisle 10 days prior wasn’t a fluke and backed it up by running another blinder and was beat only a nostril under Pat Cosgrave.
On to Saturday where we had 2 at Newcastle’s Prestigious Northumberland Plate meeting. I think next time out I’ll make sure WEATHER FRONT is ridden closer to the pace. He’s still a good horse at home but I can’t quite find the key to him at the minute. PEARL WARRIOR was obviously disappointing for all concerned. I don’t think he faced the first time tongue tie.
It’s Monday already and tonight we go to Musselburgh with Kevin Elliott’s AVIOR STAR who finished 3rd at Hamilton on Thursday night behind stable mate ROSE BANDIT. He’s been very well post race and bouncing him out doesn’t seem unreasonable based on his well being at home. We also run Jimmy Fyffe’s MACMERRY JIM. A winner from last season I’m hoping his first 3yo win isn’t too far away.
Enjoy the sunshine. Remember your SPF!
