Cooler today. It’s grey and overcast and looks like rain, which is forecast.
Castle Racing Scotland’s RAVENSCRAIG CASTLE is proving to be a bit of a stable star. He delivered again at Ayr yesterday making it two from two this season. He relished the step up in trip and will stay further. Mr Penman was told in 2020 he potentially had an Ebor horse on his hands, he laughed! The dream is definitely still alive!
TRICORN was as game as ever and finished 3rd (beaten half a length in all), in a messy race. He’s really benefitted from his mod season break. There’s still more to come from him. He’s found a new lease of life!
MERRICOURT had a big weight to carry but ran gamely for 5th. No one was disappointed. The handicapper was always going to catch him. SLEIGHT is green and needs race experience. None of his results have been anything to get excited about so far but he’s learning and is certainly a winner in the right handicap.
I run a new face at Beverley today in the seller, MISTAMEL. Andrew Mullen’s only ride. On his Irish form he should have a chance.
This evening we’re at Perth with LORD CONDI and STAGE POWER, I’m giving Ailsa McClung another ride in an amateur race. Thank you to The Farming Army for putting her up.”
