I have 2 runners at Newcastle in the 8.15pm this evening. Kayleigh and Hannah are representing and well able. I’m delighted to give Poppy her 5th ride under rules aboard Mrs Mitchell’s NOVAK. I’m grateful to our Owners’ that are prepared to give an inexperienced Apprentice a chance. That said, I hope they see the potential in Poppy that I see. Novak has winning form at Newcastle and will run with his heart on his sleeve this evening but the draw concerns me. Midge Mullen rides Burback for Brendan Keogh. I’m watching Newcastle from home, Luke and Jason are as comical as the current state of UK politics!
We’ve had a quiet week regarding racing. Never Dark ran well at Pontefract Monday. I haven’t had his head in front this season…yet! He has entries on the all weather.
Lord Sam’s Castle tried to make all at Newcastle on Tuesday but it didn’t work out. Finishing 4th, it was another game effort. I have him in a Nursery at Newcastle next week.
We have some exciting entries to look forward to this weekend: Abolish and Floral Splendour at Doncaster Saturday, Call Me Harry at Kelso and on Sunday Voix Du Reve has his first start of the season at Aintree both of the latter for The Armstrong’s and Lee Westwood.
Those of you with access to social media will have read that Donna & Dave Armstrong’s very popular grey, Cool Mix took poorly with colic on Monday morning. He was quickly referred to the Dick Vet, Edinburgh by our own Vet Andrew Miller. It was a good call as he was rushed into surgery 2am on Tuesday morning. He’s improving but not out of the woods yet. We are very grateful to Andrew of Ark Vets, Lockerbie and Edinburgh Vets. We also want to extend our thanks to Donna and Dave who are fantastic Owners, very patient and only want the best for their horses. At 7pm on Monday I told Dave that Cool Mix was settled and probably wouldn’t need surgery, he replied, “don’t phone me, you have full permission to do what needs done!” We will keep you updated on Cool Mix’ progress.
Next week we have 6 horses in Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale. We’re loathed to lose any of them but for our Owners, we hope they sell well and find nice homes. Jimmy Fyffe’s multiple winning 2yo, Florida Filly will be an asset to any yard.
Racing wise, we are at Ayr, Newcastle, Catterick, Nottingham and Carlisle.
